Land Resource:
Heze
sits on the alluvial plain of the Yellow River
and boasts good soil property. The depth of soil
ranges for 200m to 400m, with some deepest point
over 1000m. Total plantation area of the city
reaches 7033 hectares. The Yellow River runs 156
km through the city and left 1000 hectares former
riverbed and bottomland, which is ideal for large-scale
cultivation.
Mineral
Resources: Heze
has the largest and finest coal mine in East China,
with a total 28.1billion-ton reserve. The average
thickness of the coal seam is 8.3 meters, which
mainly contains rich coal with very low proportion
of ashes, sulfur and phosphorus but rich in heat.
As part of the Central Plains Oil Field, Heze
also boasts reserves of 56.25million tons of oil,
and 27.3billion m3 of natural gas. At present,
the oil and coal are both under exploitation.
Agricultural
Resources: Heze
is a well-known production base for various fine
agricultural products. The city annually produces
3.5 million tons of grain, 230 thousand tons of
cotton, 360 thousand tons of oil plants, 600 thousand
tons of fruits, 9 million tons of vegetables,
and 100 thousand tons of aquatic products. Besides,
there are 12.82 million-m3 wood accumulation (percentage
of forest cover 27%), 66.7 hectares of Chinese
medicinal crop, 100 hectares of tree nursery,
66.7 hectares of peonies, and 13.3 hectares of
roses. Still, 1333.3 hectares of quick growing
forest is being implemented, and the city of Heze
is becoming a city of flowers, waters, merchants,
and forests.
With its abundant resource of forage, Heze is
also an important livestock farming base in China.
It is the origin for the three “national treasures”:
Luxi cattle, Qingshang sheep, and Xiaoweihan Sheep.
The beef of Luxi cattle has a special marble texture,
and is famous for its tender taste and rich nutrition.
The Qingshan sheep and Xiaoweihan Sheep also provide
delicious meat products. Nevertheless, livestock
farming also produces fine leathers, with its
leather products exported to Russia, Korea and
Japan, etc. The livestock farming has been specialized
and standardized in Heze. At present, the amount
of cattles, sheep, chickens and pigs are 900 thousand,
88 million, 30.55 million and 2.92 million, respectively.
Annual meat output of the city is 390 thousand
tons, among which 120 thousand tons are beef.
Tourism
Resource: Peony is nationally
famous in China, which stands for peace and prosperity,
fortune and luck. Heze is the home of peony in
China, and also the biggest peony cultivation/research
base with most varieties of peonies in the world.
Nowadays in Heze there is peony cultivation area
over 66.7 hectares, growing more than 800 varieties
of peonies, which are exported to more than 30
countries such as Japan, US, France, Sweden, etc.
In every April, visitors from around the world
come for the International Peony Festival—and
seek cooperation opportunities as well.
The peony cultivation in Heze has a history of
more than a thousand years. Peonies here boast
special natural gifts: large blossoms, beautiful
shapes, and shiny colors, etc. There are nine
color series, and over 1000 varieties, and the
cultivation area in Heze accounts for 57% of the
whole country.
The Yuncheng County of Heze has special relations
with the ‘outlaws’ in the famous novel “The outlaws
in the marsh”. It is the origin of the marsh,
and the hometown of historical heroes like Chaogai,
Songjiang, and Wuyong, etc. And Lord Taozhu, Mr.
Fanli, lived in Dingtao County and had business
here. He not only became a well-known millionaire,
but also established important thoughts of “literary
merchants”, and thus was regarded as “first ancestor
of merchants” in China. The mother river of the
Chinese Nation, Yellow River, runs through four
counties/district in Heze, with the riverbed getting
narrower as the river goes. The widest part of
the river is 20 km.
There are over 20 hotels in Heze, among which
7 are three-star or above. All kinds of styles
of apartments and houses can meet the needs of
investors. The Heze Peony Hotel is a three star
hotel suitable for all-level needs. The Heping
Hotel is the only four-star hotel in Heze. The
Heze Baiqing Hotel is an exclusively foreign-owned
enterprise, operating at international standards.
